Recently Completed Projects
36th Street / Billy Mitchell Boulevard Intersection Improvements
Status: COMPLETED - December 2025
This project included intersection reconstruction, signal upgrades, improved turning lanes, and enhanced pedestrian crossings. The improvements have reduced congestion and improved safety at this key campus intersection.
Upcoming Projects - Spring 2026
Billy Mitchell Boulevard Improvements
Anticipated Start: March 2026
Expected Duration: 4-6 months
Comprehensive roadway improvements including pavement rehabilitation, drainage enhancements, utility upgrades, and improved lighting along the main campus corridor. Work will be phased to minimize disruption to traffic flow.
Impact: Expect lane closures and reduced speeds in work zones. Alternate routes will be marked.
General Hudnell Drive Reconstruction
Anticipated Start: April 2026
Expected Duration: 3-4 months
Full roadway reconstruction including new base and surface, curb and gutter improvements, and enhanced stormwater management. This project supports the growing industrial and logistics operations in the southern campus area.
Impact: Sections of General Hudnell Drive may be closed to through traffic. Detour routes will be provided.
General McMullen Drive Improvements
Anticipated Start: May 2026
Expected Duration: 2-3 months
Pavement overlay, striping improvements, and safety enhancements along General McMullen Drive. This project will improve access to aerospace facilities and support increased truck traffic to industrial tenants.
Impact: Work will primarily occur during off-peak hours. Minor delays expected during daytime operations.
Traffic Tips During Construction
- Allow extra travel time when visiting the campus during active construction
- Follow posted detour signs and speed limits in work zones
- Access to all tenant facilities will be maintained throughout construction
- Emergency vehicle access is never restricted
